ABOUT ABOUT

“The Frame” host John Horn is sitting down at the piano with Academy Award-nominated composer, pianist, and producer Nicholas Britell

KPCC In Person and “The Frame” invite you to join us for an intimate, hour-long conversation with the innovative composer. Britell will talk about scoring for film, and he’ll also play selections from his own compositions and his new films: “If Beale Street Could Talk,” an adaptation of a James Baldwin novel directed by Barry Jenkins, and “Vice” directed by Adam McKay.

Britell studied piano at the Juilliard School’s precollege division and later graduated from Harvard University. His previous film scores and composing work include Jenkins’s Oscar-winning “Moonlight,” McKay’s “The Big Short,” and Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave.” He reteamed with McKay to score “Vice,” which stars Christian Bale as Dick Cheney and comes out Christmas Day 2018.

We’ll also have a bar with adult and nonalcoholic beverages available for purchase before and after the program.

Tune into “The Frame” weekdays at 3:30 p.m. on 89.3 KPCC.
